We all need tank tops in the summer. Layered under a light jacket or paired with a peasant skirt, it’s a must have basic. It’s a hard thing to find, you want it clingy, but not too clingy, long but not too long, and slightly ribbed for her pleasure. After a horrendous .5 carat experience at Target with Mossimo’s Long and Lean Tank Tops, it took a few days of purging to get up the courage to go back on the hunt for this summer staple. I bravely went where all women have gone before…Old Navy.
My needs were high but my self-esteem was low as I ventured into the store, and spotted a table with their Women’s Long Layering Tanks. The sign above the fruit colored frocks taunted me “2 for $10”, but I was not to be bought with bargain basement prices, not after the tanks at Target made me look like the Grinch who ate Christmas. No, my friends I was as skeptical as Sarah Palin at the Natural History Museum as I grabbed a large and a medium in rich indigo blue and I made my way into the dressing room.
I warily kept one eye in the mirror as I slid the soft fabric over my head and then bravely opened both eyes.
There staring back at me was the stuff dreams were made of, the medium slid forgivingly over my flank steaks and ruched nicely over very tenderloin. The arm holes did not make it look like my boobs were making a run for my pits, they had the perfect amount of bend and snap. I ran from the dressing room and grabbed an array of colors and savored the sweet success of finding tank tops for practically the same price as my morning latte.
Rating: 3 carats. The perfect layering piece for those long summer nights.
